the Photographer

I’m Sheryl Lynch, a portrait photographer operating out of my home studio in San Jose, California.

I am a software engineer turned photographer and am enjoying getting to follow my dreams!   I love taking photos of people and providing clients images that will be treasured forever.

When not behind the camera, I enjoy travelling with my husband and daughter, gardening and hanging out with my dog Luna, and chickens, Yolkahontas and Omlet.

“Let the beauty of what you love, be what you do.” – Rumi

I was a software engineer for over 20 years before switching to photography.

I am obsessed with the Jurassic Park movies.

My favorite food is Thai food – the spicier the better!

I love to travel all over the world, but Italy is my all time favorite travel destination.

I am a homebody and when I’m not travelling, I love being at home with my peeps.

I cannot swim and am petrified of the water, but I do enjoy snorkeling (with a lifejacket of course!)

The M in Sheryl M. stands for Melita, my godmother’s name and my middle name.

Summer is my favorite season of the year. Love the warmer weather, outdoor BBQs & the 4th of July!

I was born in Kenya and immigrated to the Bay Area when I was only 4 weeks old.

I don’t play any sports, but do like to watch football. GO 49ers!

the Studio

My studio is conveniently located in the beautiful foothills of San Jose, California, overlooking Silicon Valley, but only 8 miles from downtown San Jose!

I have an indoor studio, complete with lighting and backdrops, that provide a more classic and timeless look, as well as a large outdoor area if you are looking for natural background options.  My studio is also equipped with a newborn posing beanbag, and plenty of wraps, outfits and props for a perfect baby photo session.

The outdoor park area features a fully fenced yard for pet photos and much fewer distractions and people than a public park or venue.

The indoor studio has a dressing room for wardrobe changes, a vanity area for hair and make-up touch-ups and a changing table for newborns.

The convenience of having both indoor and outdoor options available at one location, in a private setting, are some of the unique features of my studio.
